Newest T-Shirt Quilt - This one is for Mark

This is another joint effort with my dear friend Max.

I received a request from a lovely young fellow who not only is a junior high school teacher (that in itself is so commendable) but he is also an avid runner.  Mark asked if I could compile his many t-shirts into a memorable quilt that would commemorate all the races and events he's been a participant in to date.

As usual because of time restraints I called my buddy Max and asked if she was up to piecing another quilt  top.  Without hesitation Max came through with flying colors. In record time Max had the top pieced and returned to me.  I put it on the quilting frame, sewed on the binding and presented it to a very happy Mark the other day.

Because we had to work with so many logos I decided to fit a number of them onto the back of the quilt as well as the front  - the last two photos show how this turned out.

"Little Black Dress" by Moda - Perfectly Pieced by Kim P

This wonderful quilt was pieced by first time customer Kim P.  Kim used this amazing fabric collection by Moda called "Little Black Dress".  What an elegant feel this quilt has.  Great job Kim - you quilt is absolutely stunning!

The quilting was my standard freehand double swirl design and the thread was a perfect match - variegated thread by King Tutt.

The photos of this quilt do not do it justice - sorry Kim.

Hunter Star (Deb Tucker design) pieced by Rose

This beauty was pieced by Rose after taking a class at "Along Came Quilting"  taught by Kim Morrison.  Rose did a wonderful job with her choice of contrasting colored fabric and her execution is impeccable.  Way to go Rose!

The technique is Rapid Fire Hunter Star by Deb Tucker.  Deb has a great website and is really great for inspiration. With her technique and special ruler this very complex looking design comes together very quickly and much easier than it appears.

The quilting is my standard double swirl design, Hobbs 80/20 batting and a cream colored cotton thread - Konfetti by Wonderfil.

"Scrappy Trip Along" - Bonnie Hunter made by Zureen

This is the second "Scrappy Trip Along" I've done and although I'm a scrappy quilter I still marvel at all the amazing fabrics in these quilts.   Zureen did an awesome job piecing this beauty and thought there may be at least 100 different fabrics - mostly from her stash.   I also really love the striped fabric Zureen used for her backing and think it really compliments the rest of the quilt.

The quilting is my basic freehand double swirl design.

Double Slice Layer Cake - Pieced by Tanya D

This lovely creation was made by Tanya as a gift for her mom - how wonderful.  I remember making my mom a quilt many years ago and how she cherished it until the end.

Tanya called this one "Double Slice Layer Cake" - I'm not sure who's pattern it is or which fabric line was used.  If you see this post Tanya please feel free to fill in the blanks.

The quilting is my standard freehand double swirl design, Hobbs 80/20 batting and a gorgeous polyester variegated thread Mirage by Wonderfil.

Bonnie Hunters "Easy Street" - pieced by Susan L

How about this gorgeous scrappy type quilt?  Wow!  Susan mentioned this was a mystery quilt from Bonnie Hunter's web site.  Now I'm not a big fan of mystery quilts but this one is really really nice.  I don't think it's still available but I'm sure it will be coming out in one of Bonnie's books shortly.

The quilting is a freehand paisley design.  This is a large quilt and I must admit I was paislied out by the time I finished it.  Gorgeous quilt though!

Yummy Fabric - Pieced by Sarah K

This lovely quilt was pieced by Sarah K using a wonderful array of yummy fabrics.  Sorry, I neglected to ask what the pattern name is and if Sarah used a dedicated line of fabrics.  All in all she did an awesome job and for a new quilter is doing great work.  Keep up the great work and have fun quilting with your friends Sarah.  What a great combination quilting and friendsAWESOME!

Freehand double swirl quilting design, Hobbs 80/20 batting and 100% cotton variegated thread - Tutti by Wonderfil.
