God's Beautiful Creation

Michele brought me this lovely wall quilt showing a number of God's beautiful creations.  I'm not sure where Michele will hang this quilt - maybe in the Lodge, maybe it's a gift - not sure!

The quilting is freehand swirls in the background with custom stitching in the ditch around the animal blocks and the animals themselves.  I tried to add some definition to the beautiful creatures as well as the foliage behind them - aren't they amazing.

Fall Applique Quilt by Cari

This lovely quilt was brought in by first time customer Cari.  Cari wasn't sure how she wanted the quilting but did mention she wanted veins in the maple leaves.  A combination of freehand and custom quilting was used to complete this stunning quilt.

The freehand swirls were done using a cream colored thread for the background fill and a gorgeous variegated thread - Mirage by Wonderfil for the veins in the maple leaves giving them a lovely 3 dimentional look.

Doreen - Starting her quilting journey!

These two lovely quilts were made by new customer Doreen.  Doreen is just starting out on her journey of quilting - didn't she do a great job!    Just from speaking to Doreen I think she is already hooked and I know she is already working on more projects. Great work Doreen!

The quilting is freehand double swirls, variegated thread - Tutti by Wonderfil and Hobbs 80/20 batting on both of them.

Scrappy Stars & Funky Hearts

No I did not piece this quilt - Sheila did.  Most of my customers and friends know I love playing with my scraps and try to turn one or two scrappy quilts out each year.  There is one on the go at present but is still a while away from completion. Stay tunned.

This very large scrappy quilt was made by customer and guild member Sheila.  I think it may be a toss up between my friend Maxine and Sheila as to who turns out more quilts.  They sure are busy ladies and both do a wonderful job.

The quilting is freehand funky hearts and the thread it a variegated 100% cotton - Tutti by Wonderfil.

Hunter Star #1 by Karen' s Mom

This is the first of 4 Hunter Star quilts I have to do the quilting on in the next 6 weeks.  This beauty was made by Karen's mom who lives in Fort St. John and whom I have not yet met (and don't even know her name).  I must admit I'm always a bit jittery quilting for a first time customer, never mind for someone I've never met.

Ths quilting is freehand double swirls.  I thought the swirls would be a real nice contrast to the linear lines in the Hunter Star and I think I was right.  I must admit I am pretty happy with the outcome, now let's hope Karen's Mom likes it.   The batting was Hobbs 80/20 to give the quilt a nice medium loft and the thread was a wonderful dark grey to lite variegated - Tutti by Wonderfil (perfect choice Karen).

Jackie K - You Rock!

I have always said "there are more nice people in the world, than not".  I truly stand by this and in lite of the Boston Marathon tragedy I have to say that most people I encounter are wonderful people.  Maybe I'm just lucky or maybe I unconsciously make an effort to surround myself with good good people.  Either way I am very fortunate and count my blessings.

This quilt was made by Jackie K for a young person in her daughter's circle of friends who is undergoing a very difficult struggle at this time.  Jackie knew this would brighten up this person's days and jumped at the chance of doing so. Wonderful job Jackie!

The quilting because of time restraints is an allover freehand double swirl.  I can't say I'm totally happy with the large horse in the centre of the panel, but Jackie was pleased and it is what it is.

Baby Gift by Alexandra

This lovely baby quilt designed by Alexandra will be a gift for a friends baby.  I can see where a number of young quilters coming through the studio are having fun designing their own patterns, combining trendy color pallets and making their quilts truly their own creations.

The quilting is a freehand floral design, a pink variegated 100% cotton thread - Tutti by Wonderfil and Hobbs 80/20 batting.  Alexandra used a lovely soft pink flannel for the backing making this beauty "oh so cozy".

"Wiggley Whimsy" by Tanya

This precious little quilt was made by Tanya.  The pattern is "Wiggly Whimsy" by Moda.  Didn't Tanya do a great job!

The quilting is freehand daisy/swirls, the thread is a wonderful soft variegated pastel - Simco by Wonderfil which was an absolute perfect choice. The backing Tanya chose was also perfect.
