Yummy Fabrics - Great Choice by Shelley

Here is another adorable quilt made by Shelley.  All Shelley remembered was that she purhased this kit from Hamel Fabrics out of Chilliwack BC.  Whoever the designer is - they did an awesome job, as did Shelley putting this cheery quilt together.

I quilted it using an allover freehand design I call "Soft Swirls", a lovely lime green thread by Madira and Hobbs 80/20 batting.

Carpenter Star - Freehand Quilting

This lovely traditional Carpenter's Star is from customer Shelley.  Shelley wanted just an all over freehand quilting design and this is a good example of what can be done without having to spend the big money on custom quilting.  Shelley was very pleased with the outcome.

Scrappy "Candy Store" original pattern by Jean Wells

Over the Christmas holidays I did take a bit of time to play.  I had seen a version of this quilt in the Fons and Porter May/June 2012 magazine and had put it aside as quilts I wanted to make.  If you look at the quilt in the magazine you will note Jean Wells used a lovely aray of brights called Designer collections by Free Spirit.  I, as many of you know have an abundance of scrapes and wanted to incorporate them in this quilt.  I love the way it turned out and was very pleased to rescue the smaller strips I had in my scrap bin.

Double Wedding Ring - Traditional Custom Quilting

I don't know what it is but I am always in awe of these beautiful traditional quilt patterns.  This one is absolutely no exception.  Cindy doesn't do that much traditional quilting - she is more of an art quilter.  Some of you may remember the wool applique quilt I did for her a few years ago.  She shows her versitility by surprising me with this amazing beauty.

Cindy  knew she wanted traditional custom quilting and feathers were on the agenda.  We used Invisifil thread by Wonderfil and a Hobbs wool batting to give the feathers as much definition as possible.

Quilt Designer Lisa R - Modern Flare

My lovely customer/friend Lisa R is well on her way to becoming an awesome quilt designer.  Lisa loves to design her own patterns  and shows no inhabitions what so ever (oh how I envy the young).  This, resulting in some great one of a kind quilts.  In my eyes this beauty has a very modern flare and is spot on with all the other modern quilts coming on stream.

This latest one Lisa compiled over the summer and brought it in to be quilted over the holidays.  Lisa knew exactly how she wanted it quilted and chose swirls to compliment the various sized appliqued circles Variegated cotton thread was used as well as Hobbs 80/20 batting.

Citrus Star by Lisa K

This lovely cheery quilt was brought in by Lisa K.  Love love love the pattern, colors and fabric Lisa used on this quilt.  The quilting is an allover freehand soft swirl, the thread was a lime green poly blend and the batting was a Hobbs 80/20 blend.

Special Quilt for a Special Grandson/Son

Sheila, a new customer and her daughter Jennel made this very special quilt to be waiting for her grandson's arrival when he returns from his LDS mission in the spring.  What a very special gift - awesome job ladies.  Although Sheila has not made many quilts I think we will be seeing more from her to come as when she picked this one up she mentioned she was already working on another.

We chose a freehand allover double swirl on this quilt mainly because of the masculine nature.  A variegated cotton thread Tutti by Wonderfil was a perfect match with Hobbs 80/20 batting giving the perfect loft. Sheila and Jennel used lovely blue minky backing to make this quilt warm and cuddly.

Barb's Peach/Black Quilt

Barb brings in some absolutely beautiful quilts.  The fabric and color combinations are  "spot on". If I wrote this down correctly this latest one is called "Antiqued" by Prairie Quilt Merchantile.

Because of the extensive use and variety of fabrics on this quilt Barb chose an allover freehand swirl design for the quilting.  She picked a lovely black to light grey variegated thread Mirage by Wonderfil.

Karen's Beautiful Log Cabin

This is a first time customer Karen who made this beautiful log cabin in these awesome fall colors.  The fabric spoke leaves and swirls and I'm happy to say Karen was thrilled with the outcome.

The quilting was freehand leaves and swirls using Tutti 100% cotton thread by Wonderfil and the batting was Hobbs 80/20.
