Lovely Quilt by Joanne

This  lovely traditional quilt (not sure of the name) maybe Delectable Mountain (help me out anyone  who may know) was pieced by a new customer Joanne quite a while ago.  Joanne is like a lot of us - we finish piecing a quilt top and put it away in hopes of quilting it and putting the finishing touches on it at a later date.  I'm sure a number of you can relate to this, and although I do longarming for others I have a number of my own quilts waiting in the queue to be quilted.

Joanne was very happy to have the quilting done and was busy getting the binding on as of yesterday - she was bound and determined to have this beauty finished.

The quilting is a freehand swirl using 100% cotton light blue variegated thread (Tutti by Wonderfil)

Amy Butler Floral

This is a lovely little quilt made by Julie as a gift for a family member.  The quilting doesn't show up very well but I wanted to post a few photos of the yummy fabrics Julie used from Amy Butler's line.

I did an allover freehand soft swirl using Hobbs 80/20 batting and 100% cotton thread.

For Someone Special

This last week since coming home from a short but awesome vacation has been very very busy.  First we had to clear out the studio so hubby could replace the flooring. My new cork floor is great and will make it so much easier to clean.

Wow - I honestly didn't think that I was a scrap horder???  Now I knew I loved my scraps but definitely had my eyes opened this past week.    I know a number of my friends reading this will say - "why didn't you ask us"?  I had bags of scraps tucked in every nook and cranny in the studio so it didn't look all that much until I had to pull it all out.  Oh well - I guess I'll just have to get my butt in gear and get some more piecing done - tough job but somone has to do it.  Also anyone looking for scraps - contact me!

The photos below are of a medium size quilt made for someone special.  It was turned over to Victoria Quilts Thursday and will be given to a youth when going into hospital for cancer treatment - hopefully making his stay a bit more tolerable.

I didn't use any particular pattern - just did a square n' square block and then placed them on point.  I love using stripes in my quilts as well as the "on point" placement and this one was no exception.  The quilting was just an allover freehand swirl using 100% cotton thread (Tutti) by Wonderfil.

I'm back from a wonderful week in BC.

We just returned from a wonderful week of beautiful weather camping at Chinmey Rock Campground (Celista, BC) in the North Shushwap.  Not only was it relaxing camping beside a running creek but we enjoyed spending time with family and friends and even had some time to just relax, read a book and regenerate.

I must mention brother-in-law and sister-in-law (Don and Barb) from Prince George brought crab and char for an amazing fish feed Saturday night. No pictures too share - I was too busy stuffing my face.

We spent a whole day climbing Crowfoot Mountain (with our Jeep - in case some of you would actually think that I could climb a mountain on foot).  The view was spectacular although some of the wildflowers were already finished.
